Workforce Development
Because of our close working relationship with both the business community and the state agencies that support them, MBLC has successfully designed and delivered training programs for unemployed and underemployed persons. Job training programs have historically been designed with the hope of placing individuals in permanent employment by giving them new skills. Unfortunately, not all of these programs have taken into account the current skills desired in the local business community. The MBLC approach uses our existing relationships with area businesses in the design phase of such training programs. We tailor the training programs to meet the specific skill needs of employers that are hiring in the marketplace. With the implementation of the Workforce Investment Act, MBLC is positioned to work closely with employers and the Regional Workforce Development Boards to meet the skill development needs of both businesses and their employees.
